Cultural & Historical Assessments

Cultural Resource Management is the conservation and management of prehistoric and historic sites and their contents as a means of safeguarding our heritage. Payne Environmental Services oversees the development and execution of Cultural Resources Management Plans to clientele along the Gulf Coast.

Historic & Cultural Assessment, also referred to as a Phase I Archaeological Site Survey, is a process similar to an Environmental Assessment (EA), designed to provide our clients with the basic information necessary to determine whether a project has the potential to affect buildings, structures, objects, sites, and districts that are eligible for or listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Payne Environmental Services can assist your organization in the interpretation of all survey results. Not only will we help you in the planning of your projects, but we will also assist you in determining whether further investigation is necessary or if any mitigation will be necessary.

Phase II Testing and Phase III Data Recovery - Phase II testing is a more detailed investigation to determine the significance or condition of an archaeological site or cultural resource. A Phase III Data Recovery is basically the full mitigation of a site deemed significant when damage to that particular site cannot be avoided. No matter what your needs are, Payne Environmental Services will oversee each and every Phase of your Assessment, while keeping your organization informed at all times in the most timely and cost effective manner.
