Restoration, enhancement, or creation of an impacted wetland can be conducted in several ways, depending on the significance of the losses. Restoration of disturbed wetlands may be conducted both on-site and off-site. Off-site mitigation is accomplished through the purchase of an additional piece of property or by purchasing credits at an existing wetland bank to offset wetland losses, whereas on-site mitigation is simply enhancing the unaffected wetlands.
