Wetland Services

Wetland Determination is simply the identification of whether or not a parcel of land is a wetland or upland. A determination is usually an off-site analysis using data previously recorded by all pertinent environmental agencies. Payne Environmental Services utilizes this method to establish the potential of a property to contain wetlands in a cost-efficient and timely manner.

Wetland Delineation takes place after the determination of a wetland has been established. Section 404 of the Clean Water Act requires that anyone interested in depositing dredged or fill material into "waters of the United States, including wetlands" must receive authorization for such activities. Payne Environmental Services employs a highly trained and qualified staff to visually identify important aspects of your wetland, including major factors such as soil, hydrology, vegetation, and most importantly the boundaries.

Wetland Permit Application is required by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. These permits authorize an individual or organization to impact an area of wetland in a specific way. Payne Environmental Services will take care of all the necessary paperwork and steps in obtaining the appropriate permit(s) for you or your organization in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

Wetland Mitigation is the compensation of disrupted wetlands through wetland restoration, enhancement, or creation for functions and values that were lost on a converted wetland, according to the Natural Resource Conservation Service. Restoration, enhancement, or creation of an impacted wetland can be conducted in several ways, depending on the significance of the losses. Restoration of disturbed wetlands may be conducted both on-site and off-site. Off-site mitigation is accomplished through the purchase of an additional piece of property or by purchasing credits at an existing wetland bank to offset wetland losses, whereas on-site mitigation is simply enhancing the unaffected wetlands. Payne Environmental Services will not only help you in selecting the best option, but we will also coordinate, plan, and implement wetland mitigation in the most efficient and cost conscious manner.

Design Constructed Wetlands are artificial wetlands designed for the purpose of replicating a natural wetland's ability to remove general contaminants from waste water discharged from a particular site and to provide a more natural habitat for wildlife. Payne Environmental Services can provide a beautiful and environmentally sound addition to any site necessitating the natural elimination of certain contaminates found in stormwater runoff or waste water. While having the same functionality as an unsightly detention pond, a constructed wetland further enhances an area with its aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly presence.
